Controversy Unlimited

Remember that Netanyahu speech at Concordia? Well, the one that was scheduled there, but was cancelled because a lot of people had a great deal of distaste for the idea that someone who was responsible for some of Israels's really Draconian policies towards Palestine and Palestinian. Well, perhaps people wouldn't have been so angry and adamant if there had been more of a balance. It is surprising that Iranian's President's Achmedinejinad's recent speech at Columbia University in New York went off without quite the same glitches. (This link is to an English language blogger in Taiwan.)
Actually, who needs to bring all this CNN-psychodrama in Montréal? Bring the President of Taiwan here instead. It would be amusing to see small scatterings of Mainlainders protesting. Most people, here, in this highly politicized city, would be puzzled about what it was to be exactly about. Taiwan? Wha? You mean China? No? You mean Thailand? No? Where again? Oh my god. why on earth is China protesting against Taiwan in Montreal's streets? Isn't that a bit undemocratic of them?
Honestly, forget about the U.N.! Get Stephen Harper to recognize Taiwan. Get that to happen while Harper is still in power. There is no better publicity than this! Because I have a felling that Harper would be open to it. Or at least to let him lecture at Concordia!!!
I say, either let Taiwan's President Chen to lecture at Concordia, or... let both Achmedinejad and Netanyahu (okay, maybe Netanyahu is not hip anymore, so let's pick someone like far-right Israel M.P. Avigdor Lieberman.
