This is interesting. And disturbing. Or simply banal. Likely, the latter.
In which case, just go to sleep (like in this Blondie video)!:
But in this day and age, with the CTV cams in Britain (and coming to your part of the world no doubt) it is difficult not to get paranoid. About what? Not much, really.
Still, sometimes people in important position will try to search for the smallest thing to penalize you for. Still, this is a small matter. I have not done anything. I have not done anything that is worth watching, really. Even my political views have become more tempered and less conspicuous. My views about things I generally keep to myself, and there are people who have much more of an audience whom powers-that-be in government would go after.
I am not a believer in conspiracies. There are occasionally reasons to be worried. At this point I am not worried. Still, I have read Kafka's The Trial, and one never knows, right.
Anyway, what exactly am I referring to? I am referring to how my blog was referred to in a search by the Taiwan government. This would be normal. Lots of people have gov.tw addresses, not merely government people.
This was not a vague address, however: http://www.sitemeter.com/?a=stats&s=s24selbyjr&v=41&r=9&vlr=8&pg=1&d=714 You can check it out.
The ISP is from the Treasure Department of the Taiwan Government. I am assuming it is someone who is in the tax department. It is possible it is someone who is just bored and wants to see what kind of place a foreigner lives. Yes, you can see, from the stats, that they clicked onto the Google Street View of my house. It could be someone is just trying to check which district I live in, to make sure that, for tax purposes, I am not living in Miaoli, in which the information would have to be changed (Xianshan is pretty close to Miaoli). Again, it could be that very same person who did the final QC (Quality Control) of my taxes in Taipei, and is bored, and wants to check out how a random foreigner lives. As is his/her right. Go right ahead! The information is on my blog and is, therefore, public!
Just don't go knocking on my door, though. That would be plain wrong and stalker-ish. I trust this won't happen, unless I really do live in a truly Kafkaesque world!
