Shihtan, one of my favourite places to go and eat and smell in Miaoli County. My favourite, at the market, is the small fried shrimp and fish (no deshelling needed, because they are so small) dipped in kumquat sauce. I would eat that every day, if I could.

This is the turn-off. From there you go straight up, or should I say around, the mountain, until you reach the top. Of course, like anything, avoid weekends, when it becomes a tourist trap.

I definitely recommend going there. The air is really clean, too, and there's tonnes of stuff (dried fruits, etc.) to buy at the market.
